Brisingamen End Of Year Note, 2022 (Post Credit)

How’d we do?  Did we meet our 2022 boasts?  Not all of them.  Honestly, from the Nutcracker until now, 12/24/22 – the only things we had done were prep for Yule, attempted to complete Yule Boasts, and attend a wonderful Hanukkah party.

Lucas: Did neither of his boasts.

Catawba-Lynn: Does not know how to swim fully, but made excellent progress after her friend Gabe taught her important principals necessary for swimming.  Success.
Insects?  Maria Sibylla Merian?  She learned a lot about bugs and her artistic talent has increased.  Success.

Dianne:

1-Weight – No.
2-Do not purchase clothes – Yes.
3-“#3”-LegoLand Discovery Center, Tyler Arboretum, Brandywine Zoo, Library Museum Passes, State Parks – Yes.  I cannot believe it.  I got Evansburgh State Park in the rain, Tyler State Park and Washington Crossing State Park with Justine and her boys in one day, Nockamixon State Park (where I attempted – but failed to use my GoGirl device – that was lovely.  GoGirl is a female to male conversion device which allows female hikers to pee while standing up as opposed to me whipping out my giant, pasty, white, ass to pee when it is an emergency.  Yeah, well, I used it for the first time – like an idiot I didn’t try to use it at home first – and I found that I pee vigorously and flooded the device.  Where do you think that extra urine went?  It was a lovely experience.  And then!  After the hour plus walk back to the vehicle and then the 2-hour car ride back home – I came home to Lucas taking care of the dishes and saying hi to Catawba-Lynn and I’s return – only to look at the floor and notice new, fresh blood all over.  Coming from Jude.  His face.  His mouth.  We thought – honestly – we though his stomach was bleeding, and it was his end.  I wrapped him up and kept him calm.  I had blood past my wrists, socks ruined, rags getting thrown out – just so much thick blood.  But then I realized the blood was only coming from one side of his mouth.  We found his face tumor was draining through a molar.  No pain – he was not in pain.  We rested him, medicated him just in case – and he was 100% fine in the morning.) and then the next day turned around and went to Marsh Creek State Park with Justine and her boys.  Lucas went to Evansburgh in the rain with a broken umbrella, otherwise he missed out on the rest of them.  Tawbs and Sessrumnir went to all of them with me.  #3 is a success.
4-4H, Zoo Docent, & USCGA – Yes
5-Planning – Yes
6-Rewatch Rotten – No.  Fail.
7-Blog, coloring book creation, tabletop game – No.  This is a disappointing fail that I need to spend 2023 figuring out.
8-Finances – At the end – YES!!  Holy shit!  I can’t believe we did it!
9- Themed Dinners – I enjoyed it, Lucas hated it.  Yes – I did it.
10-AKC shows – Nailed it, success!
11-Celebrate all pet birthdays – they weren’t all big, but they happened.  I want bigger in 2023!
12-National Parks – weakly, but I did it!
*And my extra Legend Planner goal of walking half of the days or more was a success – not all of the days were done with a dog though. I walked/hiked 562.84 miles (recorded) in 2022.

Kept this up all year. Helped keep me on track. You probably can’t read it – but you can see all of the lines and the colored boxes.

(You guys – this is the last thing I had to do to close out the year.  Type this out.  Type what I wrote and free-type this post credit scene.  This feels so good closing out 2022.  We did the best we could in 2022.  And it was a crazy year.  Obviously, per this letter, most of it was great – but I know there were stressors.  It’s just crazy.  This note – I started building this thing on 11/17/22!  And today, 12/24/22, I will be finishing it – and then I have to upload it all!  I’m not complaining – this has been so much work – but it has helped in a phenomenal way, make me see an honest, clear picture of the year.  Anyway.

What’s in store for 2023?  Boasts:

Lucas:
1-Continue the [Faith] studies – unquantifiable.
2-Health goal.

Catawba-Lynn:
1-Learn Music, (tinker with Luke’s keyboard) start reading music, play Luke’s tabletop music theory game.
2-Learn about: Archaeology, Paleontology, Astronomy, Marine Biology, Environmentalism, Ecology, and Geology.

Dianne:
1-Weight between 146.0 – 151.0
2-Financial – money off the house loan and bolster emergency fund.
3-Walk dog(s) half the days of the year.
4-Visit 20 different playgrounds
5-Crochet the Chunky Blanket that I have had yarn for, for almost 2 years.
6-Read all of the Calvin and Hobbes books that I have – all 16 of them.
*I kept it light this year because my main goal if to find clarity in 2023.  Since I have no idea what that is – I tried to pick goals that would steer me in that direction.  Playground – Tawbs wanted that one.  Sure, fine.  I mentioned it during the Summer, and she has not forgotten it.

Have a great one everyone.  Have a great 2023.  I’m going to try to have a great year.
